Project Overview

A 2,000-ton offshore drilling platform module for China COSCO Shipping was successfully lifted and weighed using five sets of KIET’s high-precision intelligent hydraulic weighing systems and 20 heavy-duty synchronous hydraulic jacks. This project demonstrates cutting-edge hydraulic technology in large-scale marine engineering.

Technical Challenges

The offshore platform module weighs several thousand tons. Before transportation or installation, it is essential to accurately determine both the total weight and the center of gravity of the module. Given the module’s massive size and weight, uncontrolled lifting could easily result in localized overloading, posing safety and engineering risks.

Intelligent Hydraulic Weighing & Jacking Solution

To ensure balanced and safe synchronous lifting, KIET’s intelligent hydraulic weighing systems were deployed at 20 strategic lifting points. Each hydraulic jack operates in precise coordination, driven by a closed-loop control system that continuously monitors both pressure and displacement at each point. This approach guarantees that the load at every lifting point remains within safe limits, while all points share the weight evenly.

During the weighing process, all real-time data is collected and automatically analyzed by the system, instantly calculating the exact weight and real center of gravity of the platform module. This allows engineers to optimize transportation and installation procedures with complete confidence in the load distribution.
